Solmetra started in the early 2000s as a small workshop building web editing components for developers who needed reliable tools. Our first product, a rich text editor for PHP applications, was adopted by thousands of projects worldwide and earned recognition from developer communities across Europe and Asia.
Today, Solmetra is a knowledge platform for web developers. We write practical guides, review modern tools, and share techniques that we actually use in production. No filler content, no theoretical fluff – just working solutions backed by hands-on testing.
What We Cover
- WYSIWYG and Rich Text Editors – detailed comparisons of TinyMCE, CKEditor, Quill, ProseMirror, Tiptap, and more
- Regular Expressions – pattern libraries, testing guides, and real-world use cases for PHP and JavaScript
- Maps and Geolocation – open-source mapping libraries like Leaflet.js, MapLibre GL, and OpenStreetMap tiles
- Form Handling – client-side validation, form builders, and input sanitization
- Developer Tools – code editors, debugging utilities, build tools, and productivity boosters
Our Approach
Every guide on Solmetra follows the same process: we install the tool, build something with it, hit the edge cases, and then write about what we found. If a library has a deal-breaking bug or a hidden dependency, you will read about it here before you waste a weekend discovering it yourself.
We focus on tools that matter for working developers – the kind of software that ships in real applications serving real users. We do not chase trends or write about frameworks we have never deployed.
The Team
Jake Morrison is a full-stack developer with 12 years of experience building PHP and JavaScript applications. He started contributing to open-source editor projects in 2012 and has been writing technical documentation ever since. Jake handles the majority of guides and tool reviews on the site.
We also work with a small network of contributing developers who bring specialized expertise in areas like mapping APIs, accessibility testing, and front-end performance optimization.
