SOLMETRA Maps is a PHP class meant to simplify display of Google Maps on your site. SOLMETRA Maps uses the extremely powerful and flexible Google Maps API to generate interactive maps.

The second but most valuable feature of SOLMETRA Maps is geocode integration. Geocode is method of linking a place name (i.e. address, city name, country) to a physical location on a map (lattitude and longitude). Due to some licencing limitations with their map info providers, Google does not provide means to utilize geocode in their Maps API. That's where SOLMETRA Maps comes in. It allows you to basicly type in something like "Stockholm, SWEDEN" and our class automatically positions and zooms in Google Map on a beautiful Scandinavian city.

SOLMETRA Maps uses third party geocode webservice GeoNames. (their API)
